Equal Opportunities
The Max Planck Institute for Human Development is committed to promoting equal opportunities for women and men. We take both organizational and personnel measures to facilitate the reconciliation of work and family life and to promote women’s careers. Our aim is to ensure a positive environment that promotes and supports excellence.
The Equal Opportunities Commissioner at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development monitors and supports the implementation of these goals and is the contact person for all questions regarding gender equality and gender sensitivity. She is involved in organizational, social, and personnel measures that concern gender equality, reconciliation of work and family life, and protection against sexual harassment and bullying at the workplace. A code of conduct defines the Max Planck Society’s policy of protection against sexualized discrimination, harassment and violence.
In order to achieve an equal gender balance, the Max Planck Society promotes the implementation of family-friendly policies. In 2018, it received the Hertie Foundation’s berufundfamilie quality seal for the fifth time. The quality seal is awarded to employers for their achievements in implementing sustainable family-friendly practices and policies.
In addition, the Max Planck Society has initiated mentoring schemes as well as programs and events to advance the career development of women in science (more information here).
